Well, this has been a busy few days!
Not only have I been keeping an eye on the terrible fires in Spain (that have caused so much trauma around Valencia Province), but also I have been busy launching my new (and fifth) book. This is called ‘The Secrets to Working and Making a Living in Spain’.
I am actually very pleased with the way that ‘The Secrets to Working and Making a Living in Spain’ has turned out. Although I say it myself(!) it looks good and, after five months of research and writing, it amounts to 329 pages and over 60,000 words! It is nothing if not detailed and I doubt many e-books anywhere will match it for sheer authority and professionalism. Laden with information, interactive tools, interviews and and contacts – it really should be the ultimate in practically driven, essential information. Happily (see www.workinspain.co), it has already garnered a series of excellent reviews from the professional media in Spain.
However, I am also pleased to think that it has come out at a really appropriate time
By chance, last Tuesay (the 7th of September 2010) a UK BBC Newsnight poll came out saying that “Seven out of 10 (people) say they think it won’t be feasible…to stop work then live on a pension for two to three decades” and that “most people believe that ‘retirement, as we know it, is over…”
In other words, working, one way or another, (until we all drop!) now looks unavoidable. Of course, this does not necessarily mean working full-time. It may mean just working sufficiently to subsidise your investment or pension income. However, either way, we all need to have some way of earning money into our old age (preferably without working for someone else!).
My ‘The Secrets to Working and Making a Living in Spain’ directly and specifically answers the ‘reality’ posed by Newsnight. It provides 10 practical ways to make money – either full-time or part-time for anyone either already living in Spain or thinking of moving to Spain.
Indeed, “Secrets” tackles head-on the problem of how you can start up a business that will work in Spain. Perhaps more importantly, for most of us, it concentrates upon 10 different sectors of work that have minimal start up costs, low overheads and the potential to yield a decent level of profit. Best of all, each sector is accessible to just about everyone – and can be done independently of anyone else.
This all may seem too good to be true but look at the book (or www.workinspain.co) and you will see that everything suggested is viable, has been ‘stress tested’ and is accessible – to you!
Of course, you may be saying ‘well, what does Nick know about all these 10 different areas? Is his knowledge theoretical – or practical?
That is a fair question.
In fact, my work in Spain has not just been restricted to being a writer and journalist over the past seven years. I have run an estate agency and undertaken significant work as a management consultant. I therefore have a pretty sound idea of what working in Spain is like – and what does and does not make money here!
However, regardless of my own practical experience, ‘Secrets” has not just been written by me (although I would like to take all the credit!).
‘The Secrets to Working and Making a Living in Spain’ has been co-written by Graham Hunt – who has worked in Spain for over 20 years. Completely fluent in Spanish, few people know more about the realities of working in Spain than Graham, who is also a highly regarded expert on social media marketing and web site marketing.
Better still (and vitally important to you) is the fact that supporting each and every part of the book have been 10 professional contributors. Every one of these is an expert in their particular field. They have checked and re-checked their particular area of expertise, constantly advised Graham and I and provided invaluable tools to anyone needing further help.
Will ‘Secrets’ help you to work in Spain successfully and make money here (which is the bottom line!)?
I am absolutely confident that it will!
In fact, “Secrets” just may make the difference between living here successfully and happily (with money to play with) – or not…

PS. Have a look at all the bonus material you will have access to if you buy “Secrets” – including the first 7 sections of ‘How to Move Safely to Spain’ and some terrific material from Graham!
