TRUFFLE - TUBER AESTIVUM VALNERINA (Rippitippi - courtesy of Wikipedia)

Have you ever eaten a truffle?  Do you know what the world record price is for a truffle (amazing!!) or how much truffle hunters love their dogs?.

Well, truffles are found in Spain and Andrew Linn has just posted a great article on truffles in Spain on our Culture Spain food and wine Blog.  Have a look – erudite as ever Andrew provides a great picture of truffles in Spain and their connection with the great (and beautiful) Somontano wine country in which the truffles are found.

To be honest, I have never eaten a truffle in Spain (or elsewhere!) and so I have no idea what they taste like.  If you have, then do drop me a note and tell me if they really are the delicacy that they are claimed.  Or are they an acquired taste – albeit a very expensive one?
