Costa Azahar

The Costa del Azahar
The Costa del Azahar (or Orange Blossom Coast) covers the part of coast that stretches from Valencia city up to the Costa Brava – and encompasses Costa Dorada at its northerly end.

As such, it is a coast of extremes, with all the brash excitement of Port Aventura theme park near the town of Salou, as well as the famous resort of Sitges close to Barcelona, but also the more tranquil pastimes of horse riding, golfing and scuba diving for the holidaymaker in search of a less frenetic scene. The resort of Benicássim just north of Valencia City is a lovely, quiet place for most of the season, but also hosts a large and well-known outdoor rock music festival each summer in July when thousands of youngsters converge on the town and enjoy themselves at the festival on the beach. Castellon is the most famous city in this area – and capital of the province – with visitor attractions such as a planetarium, art galleries and museums. All around the area there are many opportunities for walking, hiking, trekking and cycling so whatever your mood whilst on holiday on the Costa del Azahar there should be something to fit the bill.

As well as the coastal towns, there are also plenty of places of interest inland. For example, there is Catí with its health spas, Culla with its well-preserved medieval quarter, Tirig with one of the most important networks of rock paintings along the Mediterranean coast, and Alcora which is the home of the tile industry.
In addition, of course, Valencia City is at the southernmost end of this stretch of coastline with all that this modern and vibrant city has to offer. A combination of lazy beach days and visits to Valencia could combine to make the perfect holiday along this part of the Spanish costas.
